Overwiev

Metin is the talented chef and owner of Metin’s Grill Restaurant from Bazar Vest, Aarhus, who wants to provide the best experience for its customers. He brought the Turkish cousine in Denmark and the goal of my team & I was to tell his story in a web documentary, so people can get to know how a kind person he is and how much soul he puts in his food & services.

Problem

The main problem was that the restaurant didn’t have a diversified range of customers, as the majority of people coming to eat there were Arabic. We set a goal to extend his customer segment also to Danes and other nationalities by this web documentary.

Client interview

For creating a valuable solution for our client, we first had to get to know him and understand his values. My team and I split our tasks during the interview, so each one of us had a particular job to do in order to achieve the best accurate information possible. I helped in questions writing and taking notes during the interview.

Research

During our research, we checked statistics and we found out that Danes avoid to go in Bazar Vest to eat because they think the food is not fresh and they don’t trust the level of hygiene.

We also asked to be allowed to interview some of the restaurant customers. Along other questions, we asked them the reason for coming to eat here. All of them complimented the food, said the customer service couldn’t be better and the restaurant is clean.

Storytelling

After our research and the interview with our client, we knew exactly what was the story we wanted to shout to the world: the journey of a passionate chef, a great owner and a kind person who cares about people, food and believes in quality.

We wanted to let people know about his experience as a chef and his food, but at the same time about his values, personality and social activities. The reason for that was because we wanted to create an empathy level between him and his customers, but at the same time to validate his products.

Solution

We developed a one-scrolling page web documentary and we divided it into sections of two kinds: about him and about his food/services.

To highlight Metin’s food, we filmed a video of him preparing a dish, we displayed a photo gallery and we briefly wrote about his Adana Kebab,  an iconic dish of his restaurant. To show his way to be, we wrote an article to let people know his achievements, values and story. We also dedicated a section to the social events he got involved in.

Client pitch

When we finished our digital product, we pitched it to Metin. We showed him what we’ve done with the information we gathered doing the research process, how we matched the design to his own brand identity and how can our solution tell his story, so more people would consider his restaurant a good choice to eat. He was really happy about it and considered our approach was matching what he wanted.
